Casa Lumina

Huis van licht

Adina is a young 29 year old, who had many unpleasant experiences up to that age. She was born into a family with 22 children, not all the same mother and same father. Because of this situation and poverty in the family, she and several other brothers and sisters have been taken to the orphanage. As you know, at that time, during the communist period and immediately thereafter, life in the orphanage consists, first of all, to survive and this is the most powerful law enforcement. When Adina turned 18, was removed from the orphanage and so began life on the street, without any shelter, with a dismantled family, brothers and sisters scattered everywhere and which, in turn, began a life of poverty on the streets. Adina has not found one support. She tells of life in the orphanage, but about life on the street.

With her permission, we note the following:
It was awful when she was taken out into the street without knowing where to go. She woke up suddenly that there was nothing and nobody, absolutely alone in a dark and brutal world. The nights ere the most terrible, where you can sleep? To survives he began to steal, do not have another opportunity. There was nobody to give her a job. In addition, it was almost impossible to find a job with a limited education and without any shelter. Life is exhausted on the street. You cannot really go nowhere to rest, and it was impossible to take a shower. She was caught stealing and, therefore, was sentenced to three years in prison.

Because of good behavior, she was released after a year and a half. But she reached the street again. What to do and where to go? Prison experience was terrible for Adina and to not go there again decided to work as prostitutes. Street life offers many opportunities to be addressed by men and, thus, the way it was opened in this direction. She gave from the lake in the well, because life is really terrible for a prostitute. Finally she met a man, raised as her, in orphanage, and living on the street, like she was. She lived a while on the road with him, after which they lived, in turn, in homes that they had. One day them was born a boy, named Leonardo. Together with his parents, Leonardo began life on the street. This man left her when Leonardo was still little and she is now all alone.

Before arriving in prison, Adina gave birth to a daughter, Andrada, and when she went to prison, her five months old daughter came to father's care. The little girl was raised by paternal grandparents because her father left to work abroad. He used to came every two years in the country, but send packages and money to grandparents, for the little girl. After 10 years Andrada came to Adina’s care, because paternal grandparents could no longer takes care of her, her father being gone. It was a difficult moment for both, the girl and the mother, all this time, because they didn’t know each other. Practices were foreign one to another. At 1 year after the girl came to Adina, Andrada received word that her father died abroad needs because of health problems.

Adina increases her two children alone.
Leonardo and Andrada need more love, which Adina can offer them not always because of her past. Adina also needs a lot of love. She needs encouragement and support. She feels very quickly refused and unacceptable and it is difficult to accept that one of her sisters grew up next to her mother. She loves Leonardo and Andrada a lot, and despite heavy street life without you could offer a future, she decided to keep the Leonardo next to her, so that he could not reach the orphanage, as has happened with her. Life in the orphanage has left deep scars in her life. Also, Adina approached Andrada, and now their relationship is good. Leonardo and Andrada participate in the "After School" in Casa Lumina.

Adina and Leonardo and Andrada now lives in a friend's house and this is not very pleasant. It's good to have a roof over their heads, but it is not hers. Currently it has no other choice. She has no income and welfare even for Leonardo is not given. This aid is on the father’s name, and he kept the money for himself. From time to time receive something from one or the other, but her life still is trying to survive. Because life on the street, Adina is often sick and unable to buy medicines. We will not be able to help others like her Adina further if we do not have the support of sponsors. Would you like to help us, in our turn to help people like Adina?
